The Waters Edge Board of Directors sends a monthly news flash to residents
to keep them informed of the happenings in the community.
WATERS EDGE FLASH
February Snow Event: This month's snow event was quite a doozy! While there are always ways to improve, the Board feels that Chapel Valley was up to the task and did a competent job. The last time we saw an event like this was nearly a decade ago, and even then, there were stark differences in the events. The Board will be doing a post-mortem review of the snow response at the February meeting, and if you have any concerns or comments, please reach out to HPM, and we will discuss. If you’d like to speak directly to the Board, please come to the meeting.
In the light of transparency, the Board thought it prudent to share what this kind of event costs a community of our size, with the type of services we requested. While this cost should not affect our proactive 2026 financial planning, it is something that the Board has to keep in mind when planning our yearly budget, along with other unforeseen items like tree trimming/removal and concrete work.
All told, this event is shaping to cost about $23,000, as of right now. We may have more bills trickle in, but HPM has given us this estimate for what we have received so far.
BGE Parking Lot Lighting Project: HPM received word that installation of the new parking lights should begin on March 31, but neighboring communities that have gone through this process report that BGE could come at any time, without warning to do work. So please take this date with a grain of salt. If you do see work regarding street lights in the community, please go ahead and move your cars accordingly. If we get any heads up, we will promptly let the community know.
Landscaping: We will be looking to try to improve some more of the landscaping similar to what we did in front of 5621 and 5692 at the appropriate seasonal time. Keep an eye out for more info on that as we work out the details.
Got Unexpectedly High Energy Bills? If you have received extremely high energy bills, even beyond what you’d expect during the recent below freezing temperatures, please make sure you check or have a professional check your HVAC system. Frozen pipes can cause your system to resort to its “Emergency Heat” backup system, which is very inefficient and uses massive amounts of electricity. Yearly checkups with a HVAC company can save you money in the long run!

In the event of a power outage in your home or with one of the parking lot lights, please notify BGE via BGE.com or call 1-800-685-0123. The more reports, the more likely we are to receive expedient service.
