Dear Neighbor,
The board members of Water's Edge Condo Association welcome you to the neighborhood. We look forward to meeting you in person, but in the mean time, we have put together information on this website that will answer some simple questions that may arise. Of course, we encourage you to contact any board member as additional questions arise or for clarification of any material posted here.
Columbia offers much in the way of sports, fitness and entertainment. The summer concerts at the Lake, days and evenings, are renowned. A great source of local news as well as cultural events, sporting events and activities is provided by Patch.com.
Water's Edge is a very close-knit, friendly community with several annual neighborhood events (not board sponsored). Our newest event is the annual "Cinco d'Mayo" party that takes place on a weekend as close to May 5th as we can agree upon. This is a fabulous outdoor event featuring Mexican food and entertainment provided by residents.
We have an outdoor Halloween party for the kids and residents in October.
The oldest event is the Annual Hors D'oeuvres and Dessert Progressive Party which takes place in November. Everyone is invited to participate by either volunteering their house as one of the three that will be used, or by donating hors d'oeuvres, desserts, or beverages. It is a great way to get acquainted with your neighbors and to see a variety of ways people have decorated their homes. This past year, the last house featured live music, provided by some of our own residents.
There has been a monthly book club, all women at this time, though the men are welcome to join in any time. The internet is used to tie our residents together, so plan to use it to know your neighbors interests and needs. We encourage this to be a community endeavor.
We are open to suggestions for other events that help us to get together. Our community newsletter "Waters Edge Flash" is published by the condo board monthly and contains information about upcoming events, board meetings, and matters of importance to the community.
We are part of Town Center Community Association which sponsors various cultural activities at Oakland throughout the year that you can find in their regular flyer; most activities are free. Sign up for weekly newsletters to know what is happening.
Our secretary maintains a complete list of all Water's Edge residents, their phone numbers and email addresses; we do not post it here for privacy concerns. You can obtain a copy by contacting a member of the board or our Manager, Carleton Coles.
Once again, we look forward to meeting you and hope your move into your new home is a smooth one. You will love it here. If any of us can be of help to you, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors at Water's Edge
